Personally, I've been a 'Freebie Fan' for a long time and I've gotten tired of all the freebie sites that are nothing more than a long list of offers that are really nothing more than lead-generating-promos for somebody's mailing list...
or sites that were not kept current, so they had more bad links than good ones... and really tired of newsletters that only re-hashed the same old stuff-I-dont-want over and over again... So I decided to make my own freebie site...
Welcome to "Abbys Good Stuff ~ Version 9.0" What began as a simple list of freebies on about fifteen pages way back in August of 2002 has gone through many changes... What we have here for you now is over 300 pages of the best free stuff, the biggest shopping bargains and some of the most helpful and interesting places on the internet. We hope you enjoy our website and we hope you will come back again! -Abby August 2005.
We are a large group of genetically-modified "worker drones" who ceaselessly surf the web looking for good stuff. We are fed through a tube and our chairs double as toilets. We never sleep, either.
Right.
In reality we are just a small group of friends who all have full-time jobs, families and all the stuff that goes along with that. One of the things we have in common is that we enjoy surfing around the web looking for stuff we can get either for free or for a very low price.
One day in the summer of 2002 we were all sitting around talking about the free stuff we'd gotten, comparing notes and bragging. Someone said we should start our own site for freebies and how much better we could do than some of the ones we'd been visiting.
Abby's husband said we could never pull it off, especially the part about doing it better without spending a dime.
He should have known better. Saying something like that to Abby is like pouring oil on a fire to try to put it out... it might work, but it's more likely to take your eyebrows off.
About six weeks later, on August 8th, "Abbys Good Stuff for Free" was launched, using a free host and all free services and support from a score of websites. As time passed we grew and changed, made a bunch of new netFriends, went through several total site re-builds and learned a lot about running a website.
In June '03, like a kid grows out of his clothes, Abbys had grown right out of the free host, plus we were having a lot of trouble with the host anyway, and it wasn't getting fixed. (Technical problems on their end, not ours.) So - we decided that it was time to "take the plunge" and buy a domain name and get a paid host. Other than those two expenses ($96 a year) everything we use is free, and will remain so.

A little bit about us...
Abby ~ I am the wife of a wonderful guy, and the harassed mother of our two exasperating teenagers... ;-) I have full-time job and work on the website in my 'spare' time. I started the whole thing and still write about 80 or 90 percent of whatever gets included in the site. My 'job' here is finding most of the freebies, updating pages, fending off all the advertising sharks and writing most of the newsletter.
Tim ~
Tim took over the lion's share of site maintenance and affiliate program monitoring. He is responsible for the general design and layout, sometimes updates the pages when links go bad, and plays with the dog.
I'd like to take this opportunity to say THANKS to Tim for his patience during the last few months while we've been working on the most recent site re-write... he never got mad, never said 'just do it yourself, then!' and put up with all my little demands... with nothing more than an occasional sour look.

Throughout this site you will find many places where we have thanked different people for their help and/or their contributions. The following short list is to acknowledge websites that have been invaluable in the overall construction, design and maintenance of our site.
Our goal is to search for all the free stuff that´s worth having on the internet, and to list it here for surfers to find quickly and easily.
Currently, around 20% of the listings here will pay us for the advertising. (That´s a large part of why we do this.) The other 80% don't pay anything, (and a few of those actually get irritated at us for linking to them) but we list them as part of the service, just one of our ways of trying to give "full service" to our visitors.
Here at Abbys you will find links to some of the best free stuff on the web, not just free web graphics, e-mail, fonts and other stuff that everyone else lists, but good stuff like cameras and posters, t-shirts and picture frames, new product samples, music and software and so on... As well as some legitimate opportunities to make a few bucks and some of the best bargains we can find.
Not to mention gifts for those pesky nieces and nephews, and they won´t even know it didn´t cost you an arm and a leg to do your Christmas shopping!
How do we know this stuff is worth the time & effort of ordering? Because we get them & try them! (Well, not all of them, we've no use for diapers, denture cleaners, etc. Not yet anyway.)
We enter the contests, use the coupons and take the surveys. We get free magazines & books, stickers & posters, t-shirts & panties, wallpapers & screen savers, etc.
We also download and test the free software, use a free chat room, counters, etc. We test-send the free greeting cards, play the online games & play computer pranks on each other.
In short: we "practice what we preach". Whatever we can legitimately order, we do. We've saved a lot of money and had a lot of fun doing it, too!
What you WILL NOT find here are companies that advertise free stuff and then say: "Sorry, all gone. Please buy one of these other things." or any other rip-off kind of thing. Also ~ if they charge too much for shipping or make it too hard or tedious to actually GET the freebie we don't list them.

Sometimes you may need to pay for shipping and handling, but spending five bucks for a thirty or forty dollar item is still a good deal, isn´t it?
A few words about the new Bargain Center:
(10-2003) Over the past year or so a lot of people have sent e-mails asking about where to get particular items, or certain services and/or information... So many that it seemed sort of inevitable that we would sooner or later have a long list of great websites with great products and/or services, but who don't necessarily have anything free to offer. Plus the fact that there are so many sites that have great deals on the stuff we all have to buy at one time or another... bringing them together in out own little "mini-mall" just seemed like a good idea. So, after some discussion we decided that we would open our own "Bargain Center" and provide links to some of the biggest discounts and best deals available. It's been in development for a while... would have been done sooner but Abby demanded a new, more 'streamlined' look & feel to the site and she really wanted to use some of the 'AbbyDolls' that she's been making... Anyway ~ after all is said and done, "Abbys Good Stuff" has expanded again, and we hope that our visitors are pleased with the whole thing.
