Talk to Your Kids

As a busy parent, we often forget the importance of actually sitting down and talking to our children . . . and then listening to what they have to say.
Plus, many issues are difficult to discuss, such as AIDS, sex, drugs, and alcohol, and we often feel that we aren't qualified to handle and discuss those difficult issues.
But, the bottom line is, if the parent doesn't take the time to talk to their children about these issues, the children will learn from other children or from the streets, which is something we definitely don't want.
We want them to learn the truth, not the "Hollywood" version of the excitement and glamour of sex and drugs.
At the Talk to Your Kids About Anything site, you're given 10tips for talking with your kids about difficult issues. One tip is to start early, before your kids hear it from anyone else.
You're also told to create an environment in which kids will feel comfortable coming to you regarding any issue.
The site also gives specific tips for talking to your children about HIV and AIDS, sex, violence, drugs, and alcohol.
Start discussing difficult issues with your child now, and when those issues are presented to your child later, your child will know the truth . . . from you.
